Assemblyman Allan Tesche is recovering from heart surgery as a result of a ruptured aorta. Friends say he suffered chest pains during an Assembly meeting at City Hall around 10:30 a.m. Friday.



The 57-year-old made it out of surgery at about 8:30 p.m. Friday.



Friends are calling the procedure a success, saying the rupture has been repaired, but Tesche is expected to be sedated for at least 24 hours following the surgery and hospitalized for at least a week.



Tesche has been on the Assembly since 1999. He's currently serving his third term.
