Greater Anchorage Inc. will shut off the lights Tuesday and pull the door closed on the city's historic Fur Rendezvous.
Board president Bo Brownfield and event coordinator Susan Duck turned in their resignations Wednesday. All of the group's employees have been laid off, including executive director Mary Pignalberi, who was notified a month ago in accordance with her contract.
About that same time, Brownfield spoke publicly about re-energizing the 72-year-old festival, and the mayor's office announced plans to work with the group to update Rondy's marketing and combine it more directly with the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race and the Tour of Anchorage Ski Race.
