Going to Ketchikan for a couple of weeks... |
|
Any suggestions? - Staying on a Coast Guard base, in the home of the Southern Alaskan Coast Guard Commander.
What's appropriate? under the circumstances? - I'd think NOTHING, but what is the opinion of Alaskan Dems?

I suggest hiking up deer mountain and seeing all the totem poles and petroglyphs at Saxman and Totem Bight. You will have a great time over there... For a small town, there's a lot to do. I wish I was still there (sigh)

This is a very good year for salmon and Ketchikan is a very rainy town. I think you will have a very good time just don't talk politics. Coast Guard is very highly respected here. They save many lives every year. They usually are a great bunch of guys. Hope the weather is good for your visit and you get a chance to get out and about and see the country.
