3. 5 star visit from a 4-star General !!! |
|
I went to two of the events that General Clark was at here! One of them, which wasn't listed on your list.. was a luncheon held at the (downtown) Anchorage Hilton Ballroom. It was $100.00 per plate, and was a fundraiser for our next U.S. Senator, Tony Knowles :) ~
The ballroom holds 600 people and it was completely P-A-C-K-E-D to the hilt!
The General was a major hit!!! (And of course, I zipped over to the stage he was stepping down from as soon as he was done speaking so I could grab him and lay a big Alaska bear hug on him!) :loveya:
I also went to the event at Denali Elementary School, but that one was so crowded that I wasn't able to chat with him like at the Hilton.
There were 2 or 3 excellent articles in the Anchorage Daily News about his visit to the Last Frontier, and they included great color photos!
After his campaign visits he made for (soon to be) Senator Knowles, he went on a fly-in fishing trip somewhere in the Bristol Bay/Dillingham area. The first day he arrived in Alaska, it was probably one of two of our only rainy days of this summer, but by the next morning.. it was crystal clear and sunny throughout the remainder of his visit!
I'm sure he had a good time ~ and I hope he caught a lot of fish!! :bounce:
