HELP: Presidential election results BY BOROUGH!!! |
|
Oh yeah, and census area too. I cannot find this information no matter how hard I look. Even major news outlets don't have the information. They see all the counties in every other damn state, and they see Louisiana's parishes, but they seem to think Alaska is just... Alaska. And it's very frustrating. Can you guys help me? I would MUCHLY appreciate it.

http://ltgov.state.ak.us/elections/I'm not sure if the info is broken out by Borough but I have looked at it broken out by district. There's probably another State of Alaska site that tells which districts are in which Boroughs.

2. Just found out the state does not keep this info. |
|
I just called the director of elections office. The man explained that the state, not the boroughs, conducts the state and federal elections, and no record is kept of how the vote breaks down by borough. Apparently a factor in this is the fact that boroughs are actually municipalities and not (as I thought) county equivalents. The only breakdown available from the state is by state house district and by precinct.
Furthermore, it would be exceedingly laborious to work out the vote in each borough. Their boundaries do not have to follow precinct boundaries, so it would have to be broken down at the street level and built back up according to borough boundaries. Insanely intense work. I know someone has done this work, because I have seen color-coded election maps of Alaska by borough. Just, the state doesn't need this information, and so it doesn't collect it.
Thanks, Blue, for the link. Though I didn't find what I needed, it did help me figure out why I can't find it. And that's good enough.
