Alaska employment security rates skyrocket |
|
My employer contribution rates have taken a 50% increase this year because of the extremely large amount of unemployment insurance paid out last year. Also the governor has been outsourcing Alaskan jobs to cut costs but it added to the unemployment roles. It also increased the workloads of those left here in the state who have to deal with state business being done in Wyoming and Arizona. I used to pay 1% and the employees pay .05% for a total of 1.5% for unemployment insurance. Now my rates have jumped to 1.53% with employee rates staying the same so now I pay 2.03%. It is a large hike for me. Over two hundred dollars just for the first quarter this year. The gal I talked to at Dept of employment security said it was republican economics and she wasn't kind to the governor. I know she won't vote Republican next time.
