Who wants to subit this LTTE for me on the Bush/McCain town hall meeting? |
|
President Bush claims he is seeking, but has not received, Democratic input on social security. I think I know why Bush has not yet experienced the "free flow of ideas" on this subject that he is seeking. He holds invitation-only "town hall" meetings and does not permit Democrats to enter. If somehow a Democrat nevertheless manages to get into one of these meetings and ask a question, he is immediately silenced by security and ejected (forcibly). Democrats peacefully assembling near the President's venues are summarily arrested for simply exercising their First Amendment rights. Those may be just a few of the reasons that the desired "free flow of ideas" is not taking place. That, and the fact that the president has not yet put forth a social security plan of his own to discuss.

I'm not from Arizona so if I submit it they won't print it. I was reading on dKos about the college student who was intimidated by town-hall meeting "staff" and had his ticket destroyed because he wore a Democrat T-shirt. Then McCain, at that event, has the gall to say that Democrats are not offering ideas on social security. This LTTE just kind of wrote itself based on that. I hope there are a lot of LTTEs going out on this one.

1. Instead of a LTTE, I prefer to write directly to my 'representatives'... |
|
in Congress.
But I very much doubt it will do any good. McCain, Kyl, Kolbe et al don't want to listen to those of us who are not Repugs. The only reply I have ever received from any of them was from Kyl after I wrote to ask him to vote NO to Rice being SOS. His office did send a note saying she was the best person for the job.........gag me with a spoon.

3. McCain has never 'written' to me............ |
|
Even tho he is our 'representative' in Washington, he will not respond to any opposing viewpoint that we write to them..........disgusting.

4. I called kyl's office once to voice my opinion. |
|
Rather than pass my comment along to the senator, his assistant started arguing with me. I've never seen such arrogance. I used to live in IL and had republican reps, but they were always professional and cordial. Here my motto should be 'taxation without representation.' The same is pretty much true with my state reps.
