El Mirage turnout was GREAT...! |
|
Before I post these pictures I just want to say that it was great to be there representing DU, and to give BushCO a mouthful. It was a great turn out...I'm guessing here, that there was 150 to 200 people there...it was a big crowd. I only saw one Bush supporter and he was respectful and actually had good discussions with those who were against chimpy. When I first got there...a few cars drove by...one a guy in a truck yelling at a mother of a soldier and flicking her off...another person yelled at us to get a job...and there were a few others who drove by with their thumbs down. But they were outdone by the amount of people driving by honking horns and supporting us...it was great.
I had on my DU shirt, hoping to meet more DU'ers there, got to meet Lady Lib and her friend. Also met two brothers...sorry guys...can't remember your names...but those guys were cool...we talked about all kinds of stuff.
When the motorcade came through, the place went nuts...people were chanting..."What Noble Cause", Code Pink was there and had signs for people who didn't have one (like me!), and there were a lot of them...!!! I thought it was really funny that when the motorcade came screaming through...they came through really fast...that Laura gave us all the "stepford" wave...Caught a glimps of Chimpy...it seemed like he was hiding, almost crouching in the back seat.
Lastly I would like to thank Kym Ventola and all the other Code Pink members who were so very nice to everyone...they handed out signs, and bottled water to all who needed it. The media was there...hard to tell how they will portray us...but I did tell a few of them to make us look good. The police were very friendly(it's true), courtious(it's true), respectful(can you believe it) and several of them made sure that all of us had water...it was quite warm.
For those who didn't make it...there will be another Code Pink "Camp Casey Rally"...the last one...this Wednesday at 24th Street and Camelback...starts at 5:00pm. They are asking for water, signs, and candles for a possible nighttime vigil.
Well...I guess since I rambled on here...I am going to post the pictures on another thread. I have 32 pictures in all...so look for that thread within an hour...

4. What an exciting morning! |
|
Imax2268 and I met, didn't really get a chance to talk - sorry, next time! I'm so glad he brought his camera because I left mine in the car.
A big THANK YOU to a DU reader (not member, yet) named Phil who drove me from my car to the nearest parking by El Mirage, and made sure everybody around him had ice water. Way to go, Phil!! Become a member!!
And I just wanted to say, again, how much fun it was giving bushitler the "salute" he deserves - twice.
Peace Now!
