PHOENIX - This weekend kicks off a month-long series of festivals that celebrate everything from Hispanic and Irish heritages to gay pride.
On Saturday, the Rainbow Festival begins in downtown Phoenix. It is billed as the largest gay and lesbian street festival in the state. This year's festivities will spill over to Sunday. They run from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day at Heritage and Science Park, 115 N. Sixth St.
"The reason the second day was added is there were so many people in one day," said event coordinator Don Hamill.
