Driving from Phoenix to Show Low |
|
Hello Arizonians :hi:
I'm from Massachusetts and I've only been to Arizona once in early December of 2005. When I went there last time I flew into Phoenix and then waited at the airport for about 3 hours for a local flight to Show Low.
I have to go back in mid-Feb and I'm considering driving from Phoenix to Show Low this time.
I just wanted to ask, if anyone here is familiar with Show Low and the route between Phoenix and Show Low, what that drive is like?
Time? Difficulty? Terrain? Sights (particularly natural sights)? That sort of thing.

if you have time to take a side trip the Salt River watershed has 7 lakes up Apache Trail that is pretty
Globe has some cool antique shops but Lakeside/Pinetop are pretty too (on the way) It would be well worth having a car to do some sight seeing up there cuz just north of there a couple hours is the Painted Desert
Hope that helps, let me know if I can help any more....

I drive it all the time. We go through Payson and it takes about 3 1/2 hours (longer if you are on the west side of town). It's an interesting, picturesque drive through the different elevations. I wouldn't recommend driving up the winding roads at night and if we should have a snowstorm it can take longer. Enjoy! :hi:
