National Day of Action is this Monday, April 10! - Phoenix Details |
|
Greetings! The National Day of Action is this Monday, April 10! Hundreds of thousands of people will gather in cities from coast to coast. It is set to be the largest mobilization for immigrant justice in our nation's history. This is a truly historic moment for immigration rights. Come join us in Phoenix as we march to the Capitol. Here are the details: Monday, April 10 11:00am at the Veterans Memorial Coliseum on 19th Avenue and McDowell - there will be music and speakers 1:00pm March begins - approximately 3 miles...you can join us at any point along the route ROUTE: From Coluseum South on Grand to 7th Avenue 7th Avenue to Washington Street West on Washington to the State Capitol. Organizers are asking everyone to wear white t-shirts or tops to represent peace. Everyone is encouraged to bring your own water as there will be pretty warm that day. NMD-Phoenix will try to walk together as a large group. Since we're estimating more than 100,000 people will show up, it might be difficult to find each other. So, I propose that we all gather at the SE corner of McDowell and 19th Avenue at 12:30. We will have our NMD banner visible and will be selling NMD t-shirts. Parking will be almost impossible, especially if you get there after 11:00am. I encourage people to carpool, take the bus, ride your bike, anything but drive there. Finally, if you are interested in volunteering during the event, we need your help!!! The only table at the Coliseum will be a Voter Registration table. We'll need volunteers to be at the table. you can also help sell the NMD t-shirts or give out water. Volunteers should arrive at the Coliseum at 9:00am. Also, e-mail me and let me know if you want to help sell t-shirts. Peace to you all, and I look forward to seeing you on Monday! laura
