How are you keeping cool? It's my 8th summer here and every summer when it hits 110°+ I get knocked on my butt. It is exhausting! Water, water, water!

1. just took the dog for a walk around kiwanis, about three quarters of the |
|
way the usually boundlessly energetic puppy walked over to a shady tree and plopped into the grass.
I think I got sunburnt.

2. I've been here for 32 years and it never gets easier. |

But - June is usually nice. Hot but dry. What was that today?? 10 pm, and I am exhausted.
I'm a Cubs fan too. Are you originally from Chicago? I am from Wilmette.

3. it's my 17th summer. i does not get easier. it gets harder. |
|
my first summer here we hit 123.
it's the car. getting into the car after an hour of shopping. the temperature is up to about 200. it takes almost 10 minutes to cool down and sometimes i have multiple stops, so it doesn't cool down at all.
but it is beautiful here. that's why we stay. i feel like my "soul" is here.

4. I've been here most of my life |
|
And the summers don't get easier. I survive by spending a lot of time indoors or in the pool. And frequent trips to Pinetop. :)

5. Get out and spend some time outside first thing in the morning, |
|
as near to dawn as possible.
I have been doing this.
At some point, getting earlier and earlier in the year, the low temps will no longer go much below 90 degrees and we have the summer "monsoon" with high humidity.
At that point, all I can think to do is head for a nice air-conditioned mall or store.
I don't keep my own home nearly as cool as the malls and stores do.
Or go north into the pines to escape the heat.
Drink lots of water before you feel thirsty.

Poor guy! I'd rather have our dry heat than the hot, humid, sticky heat of the East and Midwest. Although 112° tomorrow may just make it a draw.

11. Now I'm tired of the heat. It used to take until into August |
|
before the night time lows didn't go below about 90 degrees. Lately that keeps happening earlier and earlier.
This is half way through July and it has already been happening for weeks.
I have the travel channel on my tv today and it is all in nice cool Alaska. I'm pretending I'm there.
