Senate To Debate Bill Banning Censorship Of Religion In Schools 05-08-2009 5:39 AM
(Phoenix, AZ) -- A bill is making its way through the Arizona Legislature that would allow greater freedom of religious expression in schools. Rebecca Chambers initiated the movement when her seventh grade daughter was not allowed to display a picture of a crucified Jesus Christ on her notebook at a Chandler charter school. Chambers enlisted the help of the Center for Arizona Policy, a conservative think tank. That case inspired Republican Representative Rich Crandall of Mesa to create a bill that would ban school censorship of religion. The House approved the bill Wednesday and it is now on the Senate floor.

Whew! I was wondering when they'd finally get around to improving Arizona's public schools.
