Just a note of support from Texas. |

I really feel your pain. With a Governor and State Board of Education like we have we've had our ration of shit. So many of these people don't know how hard it is be a liberal in states like ours. Then they have the nerve to paint every citizen with the same broad brush.
Alert on all the AZ bashing threads--it's against DU policy to denigrate an entire region.

1. Thank you for your kind words. |

I have been alerting a lot. I don't like to do it but the hatred toward ALL Arizonans is getting excessive and, to be honest, it is starting to resemble the hatred the RW has toward any non-whites. The differences between the Left and the Right can be slim sometimes.
I'm not saying AZ didn't bring a lot of the derision on itself with this unspeakably awful law but when I tried to explain that it doesn't represent the way many of us feel I was accused of racism! Some just want to cling to their hatred and not see us as people and that makes them just as bad as the RW.

4. One encouraging thing. |

At least the intolerant mindset of Phoenix Republicans is not the norm here in Tucson. Our sheriff, Clarence Dupnick, refuses to enforce this travesty. I, personally, haven't run across anyone who supports the law. Of course, most of the people I hang out with are prime targets for the thing. If they're ever stopped when I'm with them, I promised to turn on my Russian accent to force the cop to demand my papers. THAT ought to annoy Officer Friendly, having to check documents on a blue-eyed blond. Regarding the Frijole Swastika Outrage at the capitol building...I wonder if the legislators are aware that tortillas make superlative frisbees. Not that I'm advocating their use as such from the galleries during General Session, mind you. That would be wrong.

5. Thank you!!! I will start alerting - it's really getting on my nerves. |

I actually had a DUer say that it was my fault this happened because I have not worked hard enough to get Dems elected. Hello? Jan Brewer was not elected to be Governor.

too ignorant of national politics to realize that our elected Governor is now Homeland security GRAND POOBAH.
it also will not hurt to remind a few of them of that fact
also health care would not have passed without votes of 4 or 5 arizona congressmen.
