Arkansas leaders attend Delta meeting in Washington
Associated Press
WASHINGTON - Leaders from across the eight-state Delta region packed a meeting room in Washington on Tuesday as they started the three-day Mississippi Delta Grassroots Caucus aimed at battling the area's economic problems.
Retired Army Gen. Wesley Clark, an Arkansas resident, opened the meeting. Heather Hudson, the mayor of Greenville, Miss., said she stressed making education part of the Delta's infrastructure.
"My idea is us thinking of education as part of the infrastructure," she said. "Having young people return to the Mississippi Delta and stay in the Mississippi Delta."

The caucus continues in Washington through Wendesday.
