Pryor stands by Lieberman
A Baltimore blog claims it ascertained that U.S. Sen. Mark Pryor will support U.S. Sen. Joe Lieberman's re-election effort in Connecticut -- even if Lieberman does not win the Democratic primary next month.

(Lieberman faces a tough challenge for the Democratic nomination, and earlier this week he said he would run as an independent if he loses the primary. This has caused turmoil among Democrats over whether loyalties should be to the person or the party. Daily Kos is keeping track of where senators stand, under the headline "Who's a loyal Democrat?")

UPDATE: We just spoke with Pryor's communications director, Michael Teague, who confirmed the report.

1. I can only hope that Mark Pryor will be running as an independent as
well in 2010!

2. Why would he have to do that?

3. Because I would like to see a Democratic challenger beat him in the
primary. Mark Pryor, like Lieberman, does not support the Democratic Party's platform and is a member of the 'Gang of 14'.

5. He's up for re-election
in 2008. I hope a more progressive Dem steps up to challenge him.

4. Why would Mark do that?
Mark is better than having Timmy in there, but he has disappointed me a few times and this is one. Would he expect democrats to support him in the general if he lost the primary? Why should Joe get special treatment either.

Joe is more popular with Republicans than Democrats in his home state. That speaks volumes. He should accept his defeat if it happens, or change parties. We have primaries for a reason.:puke:
