Can someone give me the short version for today's CA election?

I've been out all day and usually I do my research on election day, but I'm so goddamned tired right now I don't want to look at the 3 million pieces of election bullshit literature I've been piling up for months now.

I have a few hours left to get over to the voting booth.

Can someone please give me the abbreviated version of what the "correct" positions are? Just the nutshell version or just how you voted and why.

Also, since I'm an unaffiliated voter, I think I can request any party ballot I want, so if I know that Brown will likely win, should I vote in the repub ballot for someone running against Meg? I surely dnn't want her money going up against Brown!

1. Please tell me you're joking

California tries to do a decent job of educating voters. The voter's guide, listing all the propositions with pros and cons and impartial analysis, went out at the beginning of May. You should have received your sample ballot a month ago. Other Californians have posted recommendations in this forum, and discussed the propositions up for approval. (You are aware of the PG&E-funded Prop. 16 and insurance company-funded Prop. 17, right?)

Sorry to sound snippy, but I think voters have a duty to inform themselves before going to the polls. Otherwise we're just voting on emotion and gut feelings.

3. Procrastinator here

I'm pretty much settled on the props (13-17) but can't decide if I should get a R or D ballot; part of me wants to fuck with the Rs by voting in that primary, but my gut says get a D ballot and go with who I really want.

This always happens to me on election day. But by the end, I've figured it out, voted and am satisfied with how I've voted.

What I never want to do is to vote blindly or based on superficial data.

Besides, while awaiting replies to this thread, I'm reading other stuff.
