A horse and rider were struck on Saturday night by a speeder |
|
on Clayton Road up here in the hills late Saturday night. The horse died at the scene and the rider is in the hospital. I'm afraid to ask who it was exactly because we know all the horses around here as well as we know our neighbors.
I've almost called the police 50 times about people speeding around that last blind curve before they hit the first stop sign on their way into town. Three are three little roads that empty out into that stretch. Ahead, there's children playing on the sidewalk and riders and dogs. I always knew someone was going to get killed by speeders; it just never occurred to me it would be one our horses.

I hate these little Ricky Racer types. They drive with their pathetic egos. You'd think it was safe and we have tons of energy to burn the way some of these idiots drive.

2. They all seem be to driving newer cars and have insurance to burn, too. |

I feel like putting up a sign "Don't kill anybody with your stupid car, you idiot" but it might be illegal. Called the police today. It used to be that because this is an unincorporated area, we called the sheriff. But the SJ police department has picked us up. They told me to keep calling because the response is stat driven. Great. It's not as densely populated out here (yet) so how are we supposed to compete with downtown for response?
Maybe I will put up a sign myself. They can sue me.
