L Street (Sac) protest ends with 22 arrested

A protest this afternoon against proposed state budget cuts to In-Home Supportive Services, Medi-Cal and CalWORKs ended with 22 people arrested, police said.

All but one of those arrested had been released by 5 p.m., said Sgt. Norm Leong, a spokesman for the Sacramento Police Department.

The intersection at 11th and L streets was cleared up shortly after 4 p.m.

"We have protests all the time, but people do it civilly without causing a disturbance to city residents," Leong said.

1. I wonder if this was art of the CARA

day of action? The article said 22 people agreed to be arrested. I did a demonstration w/ CARA at Feinstein's office last year that could have resulted in arrests. People were identified as the arrestees before we got to the site.

but so were parent and senior groups, and at least eight independent living centers.
