| voting pet peeve in El Paso County |

It strikes me as pretty unconstitutional that I have absolutely no vote for DA in Colorado Springs. The fact that both men running are republicans means that only republicans can vote for them during the primary. I understand the need to keep republicans from voting in democrat primaries and vice versa, but it seems to me that if one side is running unopposed, the other side should get a say. As a registered democrat, I am not able to vote for the District Attorney this year, and I have no say. Let me state that I don't like either man. Both are right-wing nutjobs, but the idea that I can't have a choice between the two of them, when they are the only choices, is reprehensible.

The DA candidates in Denver county were Democrats. THey don't have Republican opposition. Though you are right.

I never meant to imply it didn't go both ways. If there are unopposed candidates on either side, everyone should have a right to vote yay or nay. If its two dems and no republicans...then the republicans should have a say. Same as two republicans and no democrats. It is patently unfair to have ANY elected office where the citizens who are within the jurisdiction of that office have no choice in the matter.
Happily, with Douglas Bruce, I will have a democratic option *pheww* in the upcoming election.

It must be frustrating, being a Democrat in El Paso County. The GOP runs everything there, and runs it into the ground.
I'm only there during the day. I work for a major defense contractor in the Springs, and live in Pueblo West - where I'm represented in the State Legislature by Buffie McFayden and in the Senate by Abel Tapia, buth Democrats and great people.
BTW, our DA candidate (Bill Thiebold) is also running unopposed - the GOP down here couldn't find anyone to run against him.
