Salazar predicts fights over filibuster rules.

A "bloody fight" could develop if U.S. Senate leaders insist on a rule change that would limit filibusters on judicial nominees, U.S. Sen.-elect Ken Salazar said Sunday.

The Colorado Democrat said on CBS' "Face the Nation" that the rule change proposed by Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, R-Tenn., and others would undermine bipartisan efforts.

"I think it's going to be a bloody fight, and I would hope that it can be avoided," said Salazar, one of three Senate freshmen interviewed on the show. He suggested President Bush should head off battles by consulting with both parties before making nominations.

In the past two years, Democrats have used the tactic 10 times to block nominees they say are unacceptable. "To abandon a precedent which has been a part of the history of the U.S. Senate for more than two centuries is something that we ought not to do," Salazar said.

2. Salazar is impressive

He's not a good ole DC guy. He's lived a good hard life coming from very humble beginnings and making a name for himself. His constiuients are from Colorado, a fiercely independent state.

He will soon find this is not the America of pre-2000. We live under a right wing revolutionary government now where there are no rules.

4. But he's a common sense man that will make his case

He also believes in the Golden Rule. He is middle America.

Americans are sick and tired of bombing third world countries when there is no reason to, failed intelligence, etc. It all makes us look "dirty". Even stalwart republicans are suspect of the hidden new little rules that we can't see, because we can't be trusted in the Patriot Act and the rest of the Bush garbage.

I think Salazar is one of the few with the common sense and guts to lead the way out of the mess Bush has created.
