Coloradoans should make sure Rep Hefley is voted out next election! |
|
Representative Hefley (R) CO. led a disgusting partisan charge to weaken the ethics committees ability to indict a member of the House. His head needs to be put on the chopping block in this state. He may have had some support before, but his behavior today should be THE END of his political career. Despite the rhetoric in the papers saying the Republicans removed the worst of the flagrant attempt to keep Tom DeLay from having to step down, they presented a proposal today that requires a majority to indict rather than the previous rule of tie. They now have the ability to stop any of their members from being indicted because the committee is 5 Dems 5 Republicans. At this point the tie means the committee has 45 days to prosecute a member from the time the charges are made. From what I can tell that is 45 days to investigate AND file charges. Isn't it nice to know the local police can investigate you for 20 years and then file charges, but if you are a member of the House those that indict you have 45 days? I guess membership has it's privileges.
BTW, all of this was on C-span this afternoon. It may be on their website by now if you care to watch the carnage yourself.

I think the man just spat all over our Democracy today. His behavior should be widely reported to all the idiots in this state that have had their eyes closed for the past 4 years. Republicans like this ought to be called on their actions!

4. Yeah, the AF Academy and all that. Well it wouldn't hurt to take a page |

from the Republican play book. A lot of Republicans were not happy about what went on today. I heard several Republican callers say they could not believe the Republicans were trying to lower ethics standards. It's time we start letting Republicans know what they have been missing.

The problem is, that they continue to vote for these people because they are Republicans. I have a negative attitude about it. THey dislike things Bush and the Republicans do, but they still vote for them.

6. Hefley Should Spend The Next Term in SuperMax in Florence |
|
As an inmate. He'll never be voted out, because of that "R" after his name. The people in El Paso County would vote for GHitler if he had an "R" after his name - after all, they just elected Douglas Bruce, a Republican and a public embarrassment, as a County Commissioner.
And they keep electing Ed Jones to the State Senate, and he's about as crooked as Joel Hefley.

7. They may respond to flyer's detailing what their |

Representatives are doing. I don't live in the area, but my area has Bob Boprez (sp?) I can't stand the man and am gearing up to find out what he votes on and how so that I can print up flayer's and and post them in public places. Of course we now also have Ken Salazar who I think may prove to be a more accurate representation of true moral values. We'll see.

9. Its impossible to raise money to run against him |
|
I would have worked on that race this past cycle, but the Democratic candidate couldn't raise any money. There are two winnable seats in Colorado to target before that one.

10. I hope Bob Bouprez is one of them! |
|
I get so much junk mail from that guy I could probably build a house with it by now. I still think flyer's w/ Hefley's voting record on this kind of stuff would at least get a few of these people to THINK.

but you need money to mail them out. Beuprez will be heavily targeted. Hopefully, we'll have a better candidate this time.

12. Hefley: Porker of the week |
|
For giving powerful thugs a free pass. For several years Hefley wrote letters to the local newspaper (N. of Denver) doing his best Proxmire imitation. But the letters stopped now that the GOP stands for "good old pork."
