760 AM,,, Jay Marvin ~ Now I am really confused,,,,, |
|
I am listening to him,,,, He sounds pretty progressive to me,,,,
He did admit to a caller that he worked to get Owens elected because they were friends,,,,
All in all, he sounds very supportive of Ward Churchill.

2. Jay Marvin's back in CO? |
|
Got kicked out of WLS-AM in Chicago a few months back: the station is switching to all craphead rightwing nutbags all the time and his attempts to seem conservative enough failed--since you can't be conservative enough on a station that every day has four hours of Rush, four hours of Hannity, and the rest of the day with people who repeat Rush and Hannity.

13. Yes, They Are Getting Rid of Mark & Mark |

to put Marvin on... The other night I was listening to Malloy during Randi's slot. Went into the store, came out and there was a CU football game on???? WTF?
So 760AM is barely Air America now...

She'll be out for a while, and other AAR folks are filling in for her.

So now we get two Air America shows per day, unless of course CU basketball is on and then it widdles down to one & half.
I saw their ratings for the fall book, not looking too good. Maybe if they aired Air America in it's true form or at least most of AAR, their ratings would be in line with, let's say Portland. The demos of Portland & Denver/Boulder are similar.

18. I'd Listen More If I Could Pick Up Their Signal Better |
|
I barely pick it up in Colorado Springs, and it's barely audible in Pueblo. And when they switch to nighttime power, they're drown out by a Spanish-language station - probably from Mexico.

3. Here is the scoop on Jay Marvin |
|
He used to be a left-wing firebrand on WLS-AM here in Chicago. About the time they fired Mike Malloy for being a Democrat, Jay Marvin sold out.
He started spouting the Party Line and supporting the war, and supporting Bush, and saying everything he needed to say to keep his job with WLS-AM.
It was really, really sad to hear, and a TOTAL sellout. I really liked Jay Marvin before this happened, but he destroyed any regard I had for him.

5. wow,,,, ThankYou for the info,,,, |
|
I guess I feel pretty judgmental about a person that is willing to sell out to the Repugs,,,, some of the callers this morning were surprised that he was back in Colorado ~ sounds like he's been gone for 5+ years ~ which is about the same length of time that we've been here,,,,

I didn't know that he sold out at WLS. I managed to catch some of his program this morning and even sent him a note to which he responded. He sounded pretty centered in Dem positions. And now the truth comes out. Well, better to learn the truth than be in the dark.
I was thinking that he would make a good replacement for the Phil Hendrie program that we get here in Colorado in the evening. I'd rather get Majority Report and Malloy. But whatever they did to replace Hendrie would be an improvement.
Our AAR programming is so chopped up that I hope they can get their own station soon. With our legislature going Dem majority, there must be a lot of listeners.
Thanks for clearing things up, Ben. And I hope that Nate Clay keeps his job at WLS. I look forward to it every Saturday night, as you know.

I just had a nice and apologetic email from Jay Marvin.
Never thought that would happen.
Maybe he is back in our camp for good this time.

8. Was it response to your posting here? |
|
I'm considering sending him an email and simply asking him to explain himself. If he wants to work as a liberal, I want to know if it's liberal for convenience or by conviction. If he does work here, his competitors will surely out him anyway. The last thing any one of us needs is some flim flam artist.

I told him that I'm glad he was out of 'LS but that I had been very disappointed by him caving in to their pressure to pretend to be a conservative.
I cannot really paste in his private email here, but suffice it to say there were extenuating circumstances and he was >miserable< having to do it.

10. Jay had a show here in Denver for awhile a few years back |
|
Did some really amazing radio, but was pretty noncommital politically and then backed Owens. It struck me at the time that Owens "played" him to get air time. Jay was very open with his struggles with bipolar disorder. I liked his show until it became a Bill Owens-a-thon.
At the hour he is on, I will pretty much never hear him on 760.

I missed the show on friday.
Is Jay Marvin coming to 760 in Denver?
His blog mentions that he has another Gig, I don't think he'll live in Colorado because of his health, but he could do a broadcast from anywhere.
