My letter to Senator Allard. (With a lot of help from DU) |
|
Dear Senator Allard
I am extremely disappointed that you have yet to condemn Karl Rove for his anti-American remarks regarding 9/11.
While Mr. Rove is acting like an extremist who will divide America forever, I hope you consider that capturing the person primarily responsible for the attack should be a top priority. Today, the Republicans top priority is to make excuses and insult true Americans who fought and died for this country.
It's been four years, and Osama bin Laden is still free, even though Bush's CIA chief says he knows where he is. No matter what spin you put on it, you’ve failed. Every day, three Americans die in Iraq. We deserve better from our "elected" officials than Karl Rove.
It is your responsibility to investigate the intelligence failures that led to 9/11. There were months of warnings before 9/11, yet your president took no action but took a vacation instead.
Explain why we didn’t stay the course in Afghanistan, and allowed the Taliban to regroup, the warlords to take power, and the opium trade to skyrocket.
I believe that we should be honest with our troops about the reasons we go to war, give them everything they need to be safe, and make sure we go in with an exit plan. Yet what do we hear from Senators and the Administration? Rhetoric. Do something, Senator. Earn your pay. Don’t give us any more rhetoric. Do something. DO SOMETHING!!!!
Furthermore, I believe that you and your fellow Republicans should answer the charge proven by the Downing Street Minutes that Republicans manipulated intelligence to trump up reasons to go to war, didn’t give our troops the support they need, constantly mislead the public about the direction the war is going, and failed to make an exit plan. Now that your president has turned Iraq into the ultimate terrorist training ground will you, as a Coloradoan do something to make things right. No more Rove rhetoric.
Thoroughly disgusted with Rove Republicans,
