RIDGWAY - The little jar of cream-colored salve smells wonderful – a blend of lemongrass and vanilla perhaps, plus a certain, barely discernible je ne sais quoi revealed by an artful cannabis leaf sketch on the jar’s lid.

Jeanne Robertson rubs a dab of it on the back of her neck when she feels a migraine coming on, and swears it works wonders.

“It doesn’t alter my mind; it just relaxes the muscles in the back of my neck,” she explains. “And that’s why I like to use it. Because I am not after being altered.”

Robertson, a friendly, free-spirited woman in her 50s, is a hypnotherapist, massage therapist, Cups tea shop owner and, now, proprietor of the Ridgway Apothecary, Ouray County’s first medical marijuana delivery service. Her delivery service is just that, delivery. She will pick up medicine and drop it off to the patient; the only thing stored at her house is the delivery vehicle, and Cups is not affiliated with the Apothecary.
