Dan Maes Facing Mounting Pressure To Drop Out Of Governor's Race

Reports are circulating Thursday that Republican power brokers will replace the party's gubernatorial nominee, Dan Maes, within the next few days.

The GOP's efforts to replace Maes follow a report in Wednesday's Denver Post indicating that the candidate greatly embellished accounts of his tenure as a policeman in Kansas.

1. With all the hubub going on I decided to listen to Peter Boyles this morning

He's on a strong roll to get Maes to drop out and/or to get republicans to vote for Tancredo. No surprise there.

He's been making a mountain out of a mole hill regarding some money that Freda Poundstone gave Maes. I don't know the whole story but she said she gave Maes money to pay his mortgage and he said it was money she donated to his campaign. Then it was brought out that the money was never declared by his campaign as is required. He tried to return $300 to Poundstone by check but he never signed the check. So he's in a mess over all that. And now Hank Brown has withdrawn his endorsement of Maes.

Anyhow, you'd think it was Jon Benet Ramsey all over again the way Boyles is beating a drum.

And now Boyles is acting like Bob Beauprez should step in as the R candidate if Maes steps down. You remember - the same guy who everyone called "Both ways Bob". He's now Boyles' darling.

If I have this figured out right the plan is for Maes to step down, a stronger Republican candidate to step in so Tancredo can bow out.
If Maes won't drop out then Boyles is working on leading Republicans to declare that they will vote for Tancredo. But Boyles couldn't get any leading Republicans to commit to Tancredo.

My head hurts from all these right wing machinations and maheuverings.

Meanwhile, this morning, Mike Rosen decided to avoid the whole thing when his program started. He slid it all under a slimy rock and spent his time parsing Obama's address to the nation of the other night. Rosen also thinks Obama should have praised George W. Yeah, Rosen also forgot how that whole administrative cabal got a Get Out Jail Free card from the current administration.

I got too close to tossing my cookies so I shut off the radio and did some housework.
