This wasn't a race I really paid much attention to....

But I was a little surprised to read that he lost.

1. I know he fired one of his longtime staffers last year

and for no apparent reason. Then he hired two young ladies to replace her. She had been one of the mainstays of his earlier campaigns. I'm not saying this led to his downfall, but I think he had kind of lost his way. I know her personally, and was shocked that he had sacked her. It was always an uphill battle in that district, but you should dance with those that brung you.
