Wish I could've, I'm stuck at UCONN readying for finals. Let me know how it went, the turnout and such, etc. As an aside, I've contacted the Registrar of Voters before and since the elections to sign up to be a poll worker, with no response ever. So I'm curious on how the responsive locals are to this. Been living here for over 3 years, its great to know we've got DUers here and I'm not a Dem alone in this town ;-)

3. Wish you could have been there! Only 5 people showed up but |
|
one of the people who did attend is a writer for the Newtown Bee and a host of a Public Affairs radio show that airs on WPLR and 99.9 STAR FM. He will be writing a piece for the Newtown Bee on electronic voting machines and SB55 and he will air a 25 minute radio show on Sunday morning, May 8 on the stations mentioned above, but I am not sure what time. In this show he will be interviewing myself and a computer scientist from Yale University about the future of voting machines in CT.
Thanks for your interest and I can put you in contact with someone in Newtown who could help you become a poll worker if you contact me (I am from New Milford). Good luck to you and I hope you stay involved in this issue.

Thanks :-) Please private mail me for the contact person that could help with the poll worker stuff.I don't have enough posts to PM anyone yet :D
I've been involved in politics and issues for many years, even helped my town democrats at age 15 when they brought Dukakis to my town. However, ever since theft of 2000 I've been mad as hell about what's happening to our supposed democracy. This election, after all the fraud that happened, I knew as a citizen and military veteran that I morally needed to do more. The more citizens get involved in the process, the better. And change has to start locally. By getting involved with elections I can do my part to make sure that on my watch, all that want to and are able to vote do, and that they are above board, fair, and honest to the best of my ability. We need all the help we can get, so keep spreading the word. Is there any way to get into contact with the larger Danbury paper and get them to publish this article as well.
Keep up the great work-thanks for all that you're doing. :-)

5. I am not able to email you through this site because you do not have |
|
posts. However, if you contact the Democratic Town Committee in Newtown, I am sure they will help you. One number you can call is 203-364-1611. You also might want to check out our website, TrueVoteCT.org to see what is happenning in the State with SB55 and the DRE voting machines. Several people in the group are putting together editorials to run in papers all over CT, and I will be doing the same for the Danbury News-Times and hopefully it will be published. Thanks for all you have done and I hope you get involved in this issue.

7. There was no paper trail with the mechanical machines. |
|
Why was a trail not requested a long time ago? Will the paper be held at the voting place after you verify that it is correct? The idea of having a piece of paper on you out side of the voting place that says who you voted for seems to violate the secret ballot plan. It can become a dangerous thing if someone gets a hold of the paper and does not like the way that you voted. No more secret ballot is not a good thing.

8. HAVA, which was enacted in 2002, now requires a paper trail |
|
which the lever machines do not provide. Any individual, voter verified paper trails will remain in the voting place. The voter will not be able to access it, only view it and tell the machine to destroy it if it is wrong.

I guess that I should read up on HAVA to keep up to date on things.
