Can we get rid of Rell please? |
|
I seen a clip of her running off somewhere and when asked about what she thought of the Democratic challengers (this was before the primary obviously) she just said something along the lines that "it really doesn't matter". Her tone was really pompous, as if nobody could tackle her sky-high approval ratings.
We desperately need new leadership.

I think once upon a time I wouldn't have minded that so much..... not now though.

I had written an email to him way before Ned Lamont entered the race encouraging him to run for governor because we needed a Democrat in the State House.
I figured that his neo-con foreign policy views would not really come into play while governor.

I think he could have won, but I think all of them saw what happened to popular Congresswoman Barbara Kennelly going up against John Rowland - he was used to tough campaigns, while she only had to show up with on the ballot with a (D) next to her name to win.
And, with Rell being very popular, they (being Dodd & Lieberman both)would not have wanted what they perceived to be a tough battle. Six months ago, Lieberman probably thought being re-elected to the Senate would be far easier than be elected governor. Same with Dodd (who was briefly talked about as possibly running a year or so ago) - why go for a grueling campaign?

7. Kennelly ran an awful campaign, IMHO |

She really seemed to phone that one in.

8. What is it they call that in boxing? |
|
When you just lay back, avoiding getting hit?
I think she's doing that. Nothing. So that there's nothing controversial and people can continue to believe in the myth that everything's fine, all the bad guys are gone, nothing to see here folks...
She's simply avoiding all action on anything.
Hopefully DeStefano will key in on that and force people to see that she's simply not performing.

10. Muhammed Ali used to call it "rope-a-dope" |
|
The hope that the other "dope" would tire himself by throwing hundreds of ineffectual punches while Ali had his back to the ropes.
Maybe a better analogy would be the "prevent defense" in football when a team has a late lead and they have their extra defensive backs playing deep to prevent the other team from getting a long touchdown pass.
The best way for DeStefano to win will be to really hammer her in the debates. But, the last time a male candidate was aggressive in a debate against a woman, the male got lambasted in the media for trying to intimidate her (big D Jim Maloney against little R Nancy Johnson when they faced off for the new 5th district)

if it's a sure thing.
He's rather keep what he has than take a chance on losing it.
Too bad -- he'd be a great Governor.
