I chatted with a long time member of the CT General Assembly (Repub) today while we were in the checkout line. His take on the 11/5 election is that LIEberman will win by a very slight margin. Schlesinger will not drop out because he is too stubborn and even if he did there is no viable Repub replacement. No one has the name recognition and more importantly no one has the money it would take to run a campaign and there is no time to raise it. I told him I thought Rell would win absent anything really bad coming out about her or her admin. before 11/5. He said there is nothing lurking - with her what you see is what you get. She does what she says she will do and her priorities are good. They both came to the GA at the same time, so he has known her and worked with her for years. I mentioned that is was a good thing that she has distanced herself from Bush and he didn't disagree but said the war was the problem CT voters had with Bush. I told him it was more than that - how it is the general incompetence of this Admin. and how that will be highlighted again during the anniversary of Katrina in a few weeks. I was done checking out so didn't get a chance to rant about Medicare Part D, tax cuts for the rich, OBL still on the loose, high gasoline prices, tax cuts for the oil companies, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc

I think our hope lies in pulling enough independents toward Lamont. The GOP will go to Lieberman.

And, yes, I think you may be right about Rell, unfortunately.

Do-nothing "Snow White" needs to go. I can't even think about a "Snow White" success.....don't want it to end up as a self-fulfilling prophecy.
