Passing Lanes! Why don't CT'ers respect them? |
|
I do not intend to flamebait, but it sure seems to me that many CT folks are the worst at not moving out of the passing lane. They seem quite content to put-put in the left lane, forcing drivers to pass, dangerously, on their right.
Can anyone explain or refute this?

I rarely take this deathtrap, but when I must, I try to avoid the center lane, because that's where all the trucks are, and I'm terrified of them.
If there are too many trucks in the right lane, I stay in the left.
I'll go 70-75 MPH, but apparently that's not fast enough for some people.
The speed limit is 55 MPH.
Are you one of those madmen who weaves in and out of lanes endangering everyone, including yourself?

3. Yes, I-95! So it's you!! |

No, I am not one of THOSE madmen, but I am frequently forced to pass on the right (carefully) when someone absolutely refuses to move over.
Don't you agree that if the traffic behind you is moving faster, you should move over?

If there's someone behind me that seems to be in a hurry, I usually do and then return to the left lane.
But sometimes there's a huge truck on my right, so I can't. But the nutcase behind me either doesn't notice it, or doesn't care, and insists on tailgating and flashing his lights.
I don't think 70-75 MPH is creeping along. How fast do you want to go?

6. I think if you look behind you and notice you're leading a parade |
|
it's time to move on over, pronto.

2. Florida is worse than CT at this... |
|
but, we're pretty bad.
While I think Mass drivers are generally the worst overall, where I think CT drivers suck is not blocking intersections when at a traffic light - if you are waiting at a light, you are not supposed to block traffic that is attempting to turn into/across your street.

5. Oh yes, oh yes, oh yes. Makes me nuts |

I'm told that way back when, CT used to be very strict about enforcing this -- even when there weren't speed limits, they strictly enforced passing lane violations.
If I get stuck behind one more self-righteous slow poke who thinks they're doing the world a great favor by slowing all the traffic down while staying put in the left lane, I'll flip.
Of course, all the stupid left lane exits on 84 don't help a bit, either. Grandma gets in the left lane 3 miles before her exit, doing all of 50...
