The State Ethics Commission has placed its executive director on paid leave pending the outcome of an investigation into allegations of serious misconduct against him, state officials said Wednesday.
Alan S. Plofsky, a critic of former Gov. John G. Rowland, was notified by hand-delivered letter on Friday that he was being place on leave because of whistleblower complaints.
Rosemary Giuliano, chairwoman of the commission, said in the letter that the allegations are of "serious misconduct which could constitute just cause for dismissal."
Giuliano and other officials would not comment on the nature of the allegations, saying the whistleblower law prevents them from discussing details.
