Homeless Vigil in Mansfield 11.23.2007 |
|
Received via email:
Hi Everyone,
I wanted to remind you all about the homeless vigil that I am organizing for November 23(the day after Thanksgiving) through November 24 from noon to noon. The vigil will be on the front lawn of my church (First Church of Christ in Mansfield Ctr., at the intersection of Route 89 and 195). We are going to be sleeping in boxes in an attempt to experience a little bit of homelessness. I intentionally planned the vigil for the day after Thanksgiving because this is a holiday where most people have a bountiful supply of food. I feel that the vigil will help people to realize how little homeless people have. Because of this, I am calling the vigil Feast or Famine.
I am still looking for vigilers and donations. Walk-ins are welcome. I would greatly appreciate any amount of time that you are able to spend with us. There will be adults on duty awake throughout the night if you decide to stay overnight.
Donations can be dropped off at the vigil or mailed to:
First Church of Christ 549 Storrs Road Mansfield Center , CT 06250 Attn: Treasurer
With Feast or Famine in the Memo
All of the proceeds from the vigil are going to be split between the Willimantic Soup Kitchen and the No Freeze Shelter. A flier for the vigil is attached to the e-mail with all of the details on it. I appreciate any involvement you can offer. I think together we can make a difference!
Please spread the word to friends and family!
