Dear DU friends NOT from Delaware |
|
Thank you for your concerns about Carper and Biden. Yes, we too here in Delaware are upset at their votes too.
However, we're practical democrats who fortunately live in a state small enough where if a better, more important race is nearby we usually travel to those states to help out. Like Rick Santorum. Sure Tom Carper has been a bad democrat who is up for re-election in 2006. But don't you folks who aren't from Delaware think maybe our time could be better utilized travelling to Pennyslvania and helping unseat one of the most horrible senators to exist in our lifetime. And down in Maryland, I know our neighbors to the Southwest of us would appreciate any help we First Staters could provide with getting Erlich removed as their governor.
It's not that we don't care how our representatives vote - hell, I'm writing and calling these guys several times a week. But the big picture is simple - we have more important races to focus on in 2006/2008 that makes unseating 2 pro-choice senators who have stuck with every democratic filibuster on both judges & ANWR pretty low on our list of things-to-do. And yes, Biden & Carper voted for the Bankerupcy bill, but you vote against the #1 industry of our state hell you're voting against the thousands of people who make a living working for their companies. That vote was a lose-lose situation no matter how Carper or Biden voted.
But as always, thanks for your concerns about our state!! I hope you're working just as hard for the state of Delaware as you are for your home state politicos!!
Sincerely
Lynne A gal who is peeved at Biden & Carper but would rather work to get Rick Santorum out of office and a democratic president instead!

A little mail to both Carper and Biden, expressing grave concerns about their present course could go a long way towards sweetening their dispositions. From both Delaware residents and Dems from other states.
On the other hand, "Man on Dog" gotta go, and it is not improbable that some real effort on that regard would bear fruit. It seems that the inconsistancies in Santorum's residences has resonated in Penn. Add that to the already delightful mix of his record-to-date, and you got something to work with.
But it will be a bare-knuckle, no-holds-barred, knees, elbows and headbutts battle.

I agree. I am upset with any Democrat who voted for the Bankruptcy Bill, but with Santorum in PA, Ehrlich in MD and an open Sarbanes seat that "wolf in sheeps clothing" Lt. Gov. Michael Steele is salivating over, we have much more to worry about. Normally I would not worry too much about the Senate seat, but Steele is black and if the Dems run a white liberal against a black RWer, many blacks might 'swing' to the GOP. That could mean a major problem in Baltimore City and Prince Georges County, outside of DC, Dem strongholds that have large black populations.
I do not think Ehrlich can beat O'Malley. Ehrlich was a fluke. He ran against Kathleen Kennedy Townsend in 2002. She was Lt. Gov under Parris Glendenning, and the administration was scandal-ridden. She also was incredibly annoying, even left me a bad impression. Her campaign was embarrassingly bad. Ehrlich also came across as likable and moderate. Since then, he has shown himself to be a Bush toady, and his administration has pissed off a lot of people. He is obnoxious and immature.
