Democratic leader Howard Dean will visit Wilmington Aug. 1
Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean will stop in Wilmington on Aug. 1 to see how the party's 50-state stragegy is working, according to Alexander Snyder-Mackler, communications director for the state Democratic Party. Dean, a former Vermont governor and 2004 presidential candidate, started the plan to spend money to build party state staffs around the country after becoming head of the DNC in 2005. The event is also a fundraiser for the party. Tickets for the appearance are $50 and $25 for students. The public appearance is scheduled to be brief -- Snyder-Mackler said Dean will be at the Residence at Rodney for just over an hour. "It's not a big fund-raiser," he said. "He's really coming out here to see how the strategy is going and to meet a few people."
