Kosmas has nearly $1 million on hand

Suzanne Kosmas, the former state legislator trying to unseat U.S. Rep. Tom Feeney, has nearly a million dollars on hand, according to fundraising numbers her campaign released today.

Kosmas reports more than $1.1 million raised so far, including $475,000 in the last quarter. The Democrat from New Smyrna Beach has $925,000 cash on hand. Both amounts appear to have outpaced Feeney, who raised more than $400,000 this quarter for about $780,000 cash-on-hand, according to early estimates from his campaign.

Kosmas, expected to run a tough campaign against the Oviedo Republican, out-raised him in the first quarter by $100,000. She'll officially file her second-quarter report with the Federal Election Commission on the July 15 deadline.

Her campaign reports that she's traveled the district, holding 24 "House Parties for Change" and has recruited more than 1,000 volunteers.
