Prominent attorney Bob Montgomery dies

Prominent attorney Bob Montgomery has passed away, according to sources.

Montgomery died from complications due to cancer Sunday afternoon sources say.

He was being treated at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.

His national reputation as an accomplished trial lawyer and lecturer was well deserved. Over the years, Bob tried many high-profile cases, and won many jury trials with awards amounting to billions of dollars for his clients. Among them are


Bergalis v. Acer, February 1991—represented Kimberly Bergalis against the estate of the dentist who was found to be responsible for her contracting the HIV virus

State of Florida v. American Tobacco, August 1997—served as the lead attorney in this case which forced the tobacco industry into a precedent-setting multi-billion dollar global settlement

Grunow v. Valor Corp., November 2002—represented Pam Grunow in a heavily-publicized case against the manufacturer of the weapon that killed her husband



He was also a wonderful person. This is very sad.
