well, it looks like the schools aren't gonna get enough funding again. |

Today the St. Pete Times had a story about how the lottery is not making enough money to pay for the school system. Of course, we'll always have enough for the prison system.
If anyone were to base their income on future lottery winnings, they'd be declared incompetent, meanwhile our state relies the lottery for whatever they might need.
Remember the bait and switch when it first started?

I grew up in upstate new york where the school systems were highly educational (requiring masters from teachers; thus higher salary). I have lived down here for about 7 years now, and have come to the conclusion that the school systems down here are indeed in need of repair. I have a 4 month year old and am nervous about schooling him down here when he comes to age.
The two local high schools were struck by hurricanes in southwest florida, destroying entire schools. The first thing both schools built were the football fields, while the entire school populous was taught in portables. Shows where the concern is...

I was raised in Pennsylvania, and I luv my adopted state, been here 35 years and watched two sons graduate from the high schools. You might be better off home schooling for the first 5 grades. Hell, we have bakesales and teachers paying for their own supplies. It's a disgrace.
