About time something work out for us little people.

TALLAHASSEE -- The Florida Public Service Commission has rejected Progress Energy Florida's rate hike request.

Progress Energy asked the commission for a $500 million-a-year base rate increase.

PSC staffers said Progress should only get a $48 million increase. However, the panel wiped out even that increase.

Florida Power & Light will also learn this week whether their rate hike request will be approved.

2. FINALLY
Something worthwhile the PSC did. Now if only we can end these energy monopolies entirely. Actually make them earn our business. We had a power outage a few months ago in my neighborhood. It affected only 5 houses, mine included, and took FPL 9 HOURS to restore power. This needs to stop.

3. I've had over a half dozen outages when I used to have FL Power, and it would go about 8-12 hrs at a
time! They'd keep saying that our part of the circuit was old and they were planning on fixing it, blah blah blah.
