What's it like living in the Ft. Myers area? |

In seeing all the hurricane coverage what struck me the most is how beautiful an area it is even in its wrecked state.
I know it's a fairly republican county going by past votes, although with the insane population growth recently that appears to be changing. Democrats and independents when added together are a majority of registered voters.

very beautiful, but very expensive. It is on the Loxtahachee (?) River. Thomas Edison and Henry Ford had homes there for years. Very tropical. On the downside (beside being pretty conservative) is that there is not much industry.
