Florida GOP Ignores Hispanic Expo... |
|
Folks for years, the Florida GOP has courted the Hispanic vote. I think this was because as many people know, jeb was married to a Latina and spoke fluent Spanish. Anyway, he really went after the Hispanic vote. The national party even hired many Latinos in high level jobs in 2004 which many people think turned the tide for bush in the presidential race. Anyway, every year there is a giant Expo here in Orlando sponsored by the various Hispanic networking groups. Thousands turn out. This year, the GOP didn't even rent a booth. The Orange County Democratic Executive Committee had a booth that was financed by several candidates -- Amy Mercado among them so the booth cost the DEC nothing. Not only this but Gov. candidate Alex Sink spent 2 hours at the expo the longest time a candidate has ever spent there. VIVA DEMS!!!!!

2. I will be voting for Amy. For the first time ever I'll be donating money to |

a candidate for the state legislature (Amy). I may even volunteer my time for her campaign this summer. I want Dean Cannon GONE! He has spent hundreds of thousands on a GOP credit card in 2 years. I don't make what he spent in 3-4 years. Furthermore, he is trying to gut the Fair Districts Amendments by helping Haridopolos get an amendment on the ballot which would nullify them. Finally, he voted for Senate Bill 6. I don't know how SB6 will play out in the Fall, but trust me when I say teachers know how EVERY Republican voted. 75,000 people are part of one Facebook site devoted to SB6 and 50,000 are part of another. There will be Republicans who lose their seat over SB6. The only question is how many.
Here is the bottom line. Politicians act like they are part of a privileged class of people and I'm tired of it.
I hope the Dems in Orlando remind the Hispanic community that the Reps didn't even bother to show up.
