We need LTTEs which are favorable about Alex Sink. |
|
We've got to get our base fired up for November. Despite the national outlook, this election is so important for Florida. If Alex Sink wins, we can change the legislative and Congressional districts for a decade. If she loses we face another decade of Republican domination.
The exciting thing is we have a chance to win!!! Scott is formidable, but Sink can win. For the first time in 12 years we can put a Dem in the executive branch. We can also put a Dem in the AG position. By November, Dems could control the Gov, AG, and at least one US Senate position and that is significant.
We must get the base out to vote! Come on DUers. Get fired up!!!

2. Thanks. I'd say her strong points are that she has private and public |
|
sector experience in banking and as CFO of the state. She has kids who actually graduated from Florida's public schools - what a novel concept! Those are two things that stand out. She has deeper roots than Rick Scott in Florida, which as a native is important to me. She doesn't seem to have the ethical baggage that Rick Scott has and that's important as well.
From a strategic standpoint, as I've repeatedly pointed out, we need a Dem as governor right now to have a role in redistricting. We need competitive districts so that Dems can build a "bench" of up and coming pols. We're very thin because the Reps have gerrymandered us out of business. I can't state enough how important it is for her to win this November.

3. She's Not Very Exciting |
|
and that's why she needs our help. But good government isn't always flashy
As CFO, Alex created the Safeguard our Seniors (SOS) Task Force charged with finding better ways to protect Florida seniors from falling victim to financial fraud. And Alex has been fighting to pass comprehensive legislation that toughens the penalties against insurance agents who attempt scam Florida’s senior citizens. (hmm, I wonder who has been blocking this....)
As CFO, she ended Project Aspire - an $89 million, over-budget and under-performing state accounting program
She wants to defer state income taxes for qualified start-up companies for the first 3 years and provide corporate income tax credits tied to creating jobs in Florida. (We need smart tax cuts. Not collecting taxes from businesses during what is typically their toughest period (the start-up) provides them a better chance to thrive without cutting off our potential for future revenue growth. Making tax incentives dependent upon job growth will provide an actual incentive for businesses to create jobs here in the state.)
Also * Seek federal grants for Pre-K programs. * Ban Gifts from Vendors to State Agency Employees. * Mandatory Ethics Training for State Employees and Officials

5. we have no state income tax |
|
we have developers that will pave over the everglades and sell the land if they're allowed.
Pre K is where the public school system begins, without a tax base, aside from the lower and middle class, there will be no pre K public school. But we can always get vouchers. For some strange reason, I thought public education was a state responsibility, not the feds. Goes to show what I know.
the other two, well think about it.

4. Her office ran the My Safe Florida Home program which gave grants for windstorm |

insurance inspections.
It was done well, very efficiently run and saved people a lot of money--like $500 on their insurance.
