Attorney General candidate calls for legalizing marijuana
Fort Lauderdale lawyer Jim Lewis, who’s running a poorly funded, little-noticed campaign for state attorney general has come up with a notable way to attract attention.

He’s pushing for legalization of marijuana.

Lewis cited several benefits: no more waste of tax money to lock up people for marijuana-related crimes, a windfall of tax money pouring into state coffers, and creation of agricultural jobs in the state.

“It is time for the state of Florida to use a rational and common sense approach to the war on drugs,” Lewis said in a written statement. “It is time to repeal all state and federal laws making possession of marijuana a crime for adults. The science and statistics are in. The abuse of alcohol and tobacco are far more injurious to public health and safety than marijuana.”
