Charlie’s On The Phone

By Brian E. Crowley | Friday, October 20, 2006, 09:47 AM

Here’s a phone message Charlie Crist is leaving with some voters while urging them to vote early:

“I support a constitutional amendment to protect traditional marriages, and I oppose adoption by gay couples. I also support the ban on human cloning, and I want to ensure the right to display the Ten Commandments in public places.”

(Once again, empty promises from Charlie Crist...)

The Crist campaign would not comment on the phone message. In response to a question about the call, campaign spokeswoman Vivian Myrtetus wrote, “We won’t discuss specific tactics or details.”

1. Davis has a LOT of footsteps to catch up with Crist
He's like 12 points behind him in the polls. Davis is barely on the radar around here in Tampa.

I don't know if that is because he is from the area or just a lack of a decent campaign plan.

2. The polls look like they are starting to narrow.
The latest three polls on the 16th and 17th have spreads of 9, 11, and 5 points (LINK). The previous spread for these three polls were all 15 points. Crist is starting to go real negative so he must be seeing some change in his internal polls. I hope that with Davis' more agressive ad campaign, publicity about Crist's wishy/washy positions, and a strong showing in the debate Davis may pull an upset. The problem with the campaign is simply money. Donate a buck or two if you can spare it.

5. They may not be able to afford the ads for all markets.

I've seen Davis ads pretty regularly in St Pete.
