Oct 20: GOP leads have evaporated in races for attorney general, CFO
From the Miami Herald:

GOP leads have evaporated in races for attorney general, CFO

BY AMY DRISCOLL
October 20, 2006

The races for two open Cabinet seats tightened in Florida, with Democrats gaining ground as their television ads began airing, though many voters remain undecided three weeks before the election, according to a poll released Friday.

In the race for attorney general, Republican Bill McCollum now holds a narrow three-point lead over Democrat Walter ''Skip'' Campbell, with 19 percent of those polled still undecided.

And in the chief financial officer's race, Republican Tom Lee's lead has been whittled to one point over Democrat Adelaide ''Alex'' Sink, with 23 percent undecided.

Because the poll's margin of error is plus or minus 4 percentage points, the two races are in a statistical dead heat.

The third Cabinet race is a different story, with incumbent Republican Agriculture Commissioner Charles Bronson widening his lead over Democratic challenger Eric Copeland, according to the Mason-Dixon survey of 625 voters who say they cast ballots regularly.

''Both the attorney general's race and the CFO race are within the margin of error, so I think it's safe to say they are very close,'' said J. Bradford Coker, managing director of Mason-Dixon Polling & Research.

A disturbing point made in this article:

Amendment 3 -- to require a 60 percent majority vote to approve future state constitutional amendments -- now has the support of more than half of Florida's voters. Statewide, 52 percent said they would vote ''yes,'' while 27 percent said they opposed it, with 21 percent undecided. A similar survey in September found only 44 percent in favor.

See this thread for why we the people should vote NO to Amendment 3.

In a nutshell, a "yes" vote would forfeit our right to be heard if we felt that the legislature was not fully representing our interests. The National Association of Home Builders, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, The Florida Association of Realtors, U.S. Sugar, The St. Joe Co., Lykes Bros. Inc., the Florida Chamber of Commerce and Publix are pushing this amendment!
