FORT LAUDERDALE -- Haz/Mat workers and Bomb Squad Units have given the all clear at the Public Safety headquarters of the Broward Sheriff's Office, a section of which was evacuated Friday morning after a suspicious package was found in a first-floor mailroom.
Through screening and training procedures, first-floor mailroom employees intercepted a suspicious package and took the appropriate safety precautions, said BSO spokeswoman Keyla Concepcion.
This was not a white powder incident, she said. No one was injured.
The partial evacuation at the BSO headquarters building, 2601 W. Broward Blvd., was lifted after about 30 minutes, she said. The suspicious package was found in the mailroom shortly before 9 a.m.
