Former state lawmaker running for Congress

NEW SMYRNA BEACH – Former State Rep. Suzanne Kosmas, D-New Smyrna Beach, announced today she will run for the U.S. District 24 seat now held by U.S. Rep. Tom Feeney, R-Oviedo.

Kosmas, who runs a local real estate company, served four terms in the Florida House from 1996-2004.

The congressional district includes parts of Volusia, Brevard, Seminole, and Orange counties.

"I am running to bring a moderate, common-sense approach to decision making," Kosmas said in a press release. "...I will support efforts introduced by either party to make prescription drugs more affordable and health care more accessible. I will sponsor or support all efforts to balance our budget and to defend Social Security, not to privatize it."
