40. remember many dems ran from McKinney relative to this |
|
It looks like the movie focuses on just a few of the facts, but in an entertaining manner. Moore on Letterman said people on the fence about the president clearly fell off after seeing the film in testing.
But seeing the trailer just sounds like another step in the "what did he know, when did he know it and why wasn't more done to protect people"
If you have any McKinney materials I urge people to wear it to the theater.
As to protesters, they need to get real, they have Limbaugh, Boortz and Hannity constantly making up BS for the Right Wing. Moore at least tries to be factual while being entertaining - but no! one movie for the other side is to much.

either theatre is fine with me... i'm actually only 5 minutes from landmark, but i believe phipp's might be easier for other folks to find (and it's a bit nicer)

4. Saturday would be better for us |
|
My husband works in Sandy Springs, and you know what Friday traffic is like. He's 6'4" and drives an enclosed roller skate, so it normally takes him a couple of hours to unfold after Friday rush hour. Might take all of us to unfold him out of the movie seat. LOL Phipps is okay by me if it is easier for the non-Atlanta folk to find. I was just thinking that will most likely be freeper hell -- Phipps always attracts all the protestors.

So that's a week from this Saturday. That's plenty of time for us to make plans, buy tix, etc.
Totally sure - web site has Phipps and Landmark listed when you search by city not state.

I was thinking the showing closest to around 5-6, just so we'd have time to go and hang out afterward, eat, and still get home at a decent hour (for those with a long drive and those paying a babysitter). But, those who want could meet to eat and socialize before the movie, go to the movie, and then those who can or want to go grab a coffee or something afterward. That way, you can join us after dinner for the movie. What's everyone think??

We can come to either place.
Phipps is fine with me, but I've never seen a protest there. I'm only familiar with the inside theater entrance, and I'm having a hard time imagining protesters on the 3rd level upstairs. So I guess there must be an outside entrance too!
Really looking forward to the movie as well as meeting some local DUers!!!

38. Normally the protestors stay in the parking lot |
|
At least that's how it was for Last Temptation of Christ, of course that was before they added the parking decks at Phipps, so I don't know where they'd be this time. Honestly, I'm thinking there will only be a handful of protestors anywhere. I just don't think the average person is going to get that worked up over this film. I know that many of my Republican friends have questions about 9/11 and aren't completely sure that this administration did all it could. I know a lot of Republicans (can't be helped where I live), but none that are gung-ho Bush. I don't know a single person who has a Bush sticker or yard sign. My dad had a sticker in 2000, but even he is keeping kind of quiet this time around. My dad hated Al Gore, so he was obsessed with getting anyone elected but Gore. He dislikes Kerry, but there's just not the same level of intensity there this time, and my dad was a McCain supporter early on in 2000, and I think his concerns about Dubya have been justified. I'm sure he will still vote for chimpy boy, but he's not nearly as gungho as he was last time. My mom, on the other hand, knows how much pressure NCLB has put on her kids (my sister and I are both teachers), she blames Bush for her girls being stressed. I wouldn't be surprised if she votes for Kerry, but she will never tell a living soul. She has lived with my dad for 47 years - she knows how to keep the domestic peace. LOL

42. Show times for Saturday |
|
Phipps has a show at 4:50 and one at 7:40. The price for the 4:50 showing if you order online is $7.50, and the price for tix for the 7:40 show is $9.50. I personally would prefer the earlier showing, just because some are driving in from pretty far out. If we go to the early show we can meet afterward - Those going on Friday night could still meet us after the movie. IF the 7:40 is better, I'm okay with that too. Let's just decide on a time, so we can order tix, and I can make arrangements with my babysitter. We can still meet after or before either way if we go to the 7:40 show. What do you guys think?

Had to juggle a couple of things to make THAT work, so I hope somebody else will be going at that time. If so, is there any way we could identify ourselves so we can meet one another? Like wear a Blue Ribbon on the wrist or pin it to a shirt or jacket? We'll do that unless somebody comes up with a better idea.
How's that?
Woo hoo - looking forward to it!!

I can't order tix today, because my paycheck won't be available until tomorrow and I am BROKE (have to use my check card), so hopefully I will be able to get tix early in the morning. PM me and we can set a place in Phipps to meet.
My babysitter cancelled on me last night, but I got another one today. We're picking her up at 3:00, so we can be at Phipps by 4:00 to pickup our tix.
I am so totally excited about this movie! We watched Bowling for Columbine Wednesday, and then watched The Big One last night. We're making this a Michael Moore film fest week.
