We need to make plans. Our DU people in Atlanta can help us to meet up! :hi: I'm in Athens. A meetup here is OK too!

3. I'd love it, but only if we could meet up north of Atlanta. |
|
I live in Woodstock, northwest of Atlanta and I hate traveling into the city.

35. It's a long drive for those of us |
|
coming from northwest Georgia, isn't it? But I hope to go to this get-together in East Atlanta. And I'd love to go Athens any time!
Maybe next time people would be willing to go to Kennesaw or someplace north of Atlanta and let more of us north Georgians attend.

6. It sounds great, but needs at least 3 weeks for notice and |
|
for people to plan.
Also the consensus is that it needs to be some place other than Manuel's this time. Too smoky and there are some that would stop by probably with small children (Mike Malloy) and some that are pregnant (me) :)
Someone PM ulysses and see what he has in mind. He put the last one together and I know he's one of the ones with a little one know.
If he's busy, let me know and I'll work on putting it together. I'm excited about seeing all the Atlanta/surrounding area DUers again!

|
I'm not so familiar with Atlanta these days. I used to go there a lot when I had a friend who lived in midtown. I want to meet Mike Malloy this time. Manuels was easy to get to from Athens.
Mardi Gras and Valentines Day are NOT good for us because we'll be in the NOLA area visiting family and our anniversary is on Feb. 14th.
Hi Ruby! :hi: I hope your doing fine!

Hi fellow Georgia DU-ers!
There's a great new place in East Atlanta - the Graveyard - I'd suggest for a meeting. It's as big as Manuels but without the indoor smoking. Good food, big portions, low prices, hot neighborhood, and Mike and I know the owner =)
Just tell us the time/date and we'll be there!

It sounds like a cool place. Here in Athens we have an indoor smoking ban and it's made a world of difference in indoor air quality!

Preferrably towards the end of February (to give everyone plenty of notice to make arrangements).
I'm going to throw out Friday, Feb 24th.

Friday's a no-go for us, as are Monday thru Thursday nights as we've got that pesky radio thing going on . . . .
It'd have to be a weekend night for us. Unless y'all want to make it a lunch thing.

A weekday lunch time meetup is a no go for me.
I hope to meet you and Mike soon! I love the show. I arrived too late at Manuels to meet y'all at the last meetup.

26. I'm in Athens. We'll plan a meetup in the spring or summer here! |
|
The Globe in Athens would be the ideal place. It's Athens ultimate bohemian bar! They have some food as well and there are lots of nearby restaurants. There are lots of other downtown spots too. We'll work on that meetup later in the year. :)

36. Good, I love Athens. Let's make it a weekend so |
|
some of us can stay overnight. I'd like to see the botanical gardens while we're there. That's one thing I've not seen in Athens that I'd really like to.
The Grit would be good, too, IMO. Or The Grill. Two totally different sorts of ambience!

39. A spring weekend would be perfect for taking in the Botanical Garden |
|
and the Georgia Museum of Art as well as enjoying Athens downtwon nightlife and any of the numerous cultural events and opportunities in our lovely town! There are two hotels (the Foundry Park Inn and the Holiday Inn) which are right downtown nwithin walking distance of the bars, restaurants, shopping and clubs. There are other hotels/motels a bit further out also.
The garden is especially beautiful in the springtime. You'll want to visit Herty Field and the Founder's Garden on the North Campus as well!
:) Lets post again about this in the spring. How about late April or early May?

|
How's it going? We'll definitely have to have an Athens DU meet up this spring. My girlfriends and I used to go to the Globe all the time on Fridays! My work is no longer close to downtown and I have my horse to care for so I don't get down there so often anymore. I love the Manhattan too!

Do they have any vegetarian food at the Graveyard? If not, we'll have to brown-bag our food, which would be an interesting twist!
