For those in DeKalb County you can go to the voter registration and elections office at 4380 Memorial Drive 404 298 4020 and Vote now through the primary election on 7/20 for any reason. Post card said they want to avoid lines on election day.

Its on the corner of Memorial Drive and I-285 across the street from the Jail, next to the Tom Scott Tax office.

Myahquote, I respect your right to support Ms. McKinney but I for one will not be voting for her. I am going to have to do some homework this weekend to select among the remaining candidates but I can't bring myself to vote for Ms. McKinney. It's not that I don't agree with her on some issues but I don't think her approach to politics, her style and her abrasive nature have been productive for the citizens of Dekalb County. Unfortunately when in Rome you do as the Romans or you lose. We have a system and sometimes you have to play within the system to make any progress.

Alas, may the best candidate win in the primary and on to the general election in November. I'm just glad to see you are supporting a Democrat!

2. abrasive is the false claim

law dem thanks for the opinion. Its an interesting charge you make against her, the "abrasive" or "Style" charge, how do you disprove such a subjective claim like that other than to ask others to watch the forums or interviews of them and see for themselves.

The newspaper link of the forum gives some insight as to how people conducted themselves at the forums.

Was her production or effectiveness hurt by having a backbone and "not going along to get along" depends on how one defines effectiveness.

Bottom line is that McKinney got discussion going where it was needed, exposed a lot of issues to the light of day and at the same time brought home a great deal of federal dollars to her constituents, and provided services to her constitutents that have been missed greatly. Cynthia was effective, what's more amazing is that she was effective without selling out.

3. I'm voting to send her ass right back to Washington

Since she had the guts to speak out when no one dared against the glorious Furher Bush back in 2002. She's not afraid, and I like that in a politician.

4. McKinney?

As a 4th district voter, you just sent shivers thru my spine. McKinney has always struck me as a racist politician in the vein of our former ATL councilperson Sherry Dorsey. If McKinney even made the slightest attempt to court white voters she would probably win without a runoff- Instead, I've always gotten the impression that she does not even view me as a constituent. When she represented the 4th her staffers wouldn't even respond to my emails!

Besides, Cathy Woolard will make an outstanding congressperson!

Man you are so wrong. I would expect a Cathy Woolard supporter to be a little more thoughtful or careful with their words.

Try looking at things from their viewpoint.

Sorry your emails didn't get a reply. It is true they don't have some technology like robo responders to emails, and the nature of their constituents and causes has them probably fielding far more questions, emails and letters than an average Suburban Republican who usually just has to respond to questions about the next tax cuts so his constituent can get that 3rd home.

Your point is well taken.

I just wish she would have campaigned more all over the county . . . . Turns out she did pull the win off . . . but if she made an honest effort to appeal to all the diverse constituencies in the district she could have won by even more & I think it would jusr be better.

I live in city of decatur, for example, & saw less community activity from her campaign than I would have hoped.

Anyway, hopefully she will make us all proud . . . .

I'd like to see a healing, her victory speech talks about coming together.

The campaign did spend some time knocking on doors in Decatur, but its a tough job doing that as the volunteers including myself will often get yelled at or otherwise berated for volunteering for McKinney. So since all doors can't be knocked on, it was geared more towards turning out the vote and where the majority of doors would be receptive.

She also did an event at Ashton's.

I would like to start by thanking the hundreds of volunteers and the thousands of well-wishers who gave us the encouragement, along with their talents, to produce this moment.

Almost two years ago today, I told you that Georgia's 4th District History train would keep on rolling.

I told you that we still had a cause much greater than ourselves, to make a difference in our community.

And I told you that I'd be back!

Well tonight, we're back!

But these past two years have also given me an opportunity to keep some personal commitments that I made that night:

I've guided my son from high school and in a few weeks he'll be entering college;
I've refashioned my doctoral work and have been accepted into the African American Studies Department at the University of California. And I've learned again what it means to have a loving mother and father at the center of my life.

But I also learned a valuable lesson during these past two years: The American people appreciate being told the truth!

And nowhere is that more evident than right here in the 4th Congressional District with our victory here tonight.

It is patently clear that only the pundits wanted a runoff! But the people were very clear about this election. And here's why:

They were clear about my commitment to the people.

They were clear about my commitment to change.

They were clear about my commitment to accountability.

And they were clear about my commitment to truth.

As Americans, we have some difficult decisions ahead of us.

We've got to make America, America again.

We've got to reject any backsliding on civil rights or human rights.

We've got to get our troops out of harm's way and bring them home.

We've got to turn around this Bush economy and get the American people back to work.

In fact, while we're at it, let's just turn the whole Bush Administration around and install a new resident in the White House!

My vision for this District includes everyone, but we've all got to pull together to make it work.

I extend my hand in partnership to all who want to protect our values and secure our future.

The children of this district need our help. They need good homes; good schools; and secure futures.

The parents of this district need our support. They need secure incomes; secure communities; and a wealth building strategy that sustains our prosperity well into the future.

I've made special outreach to the parents of our troops and Jamal Addison's mother, Mrs. Patricia Roberts, is here as well as other mothers of our troops.

I've reached out to the Hip Hop generation and Gloria Cox, Tupac's aunt, is here tonight.

Tonight we have people from all over America who have come to Georgia to keep the History Train on track. Chicago, New York, Kentucky . . . Thank you.

The History Train is back on track!

The people of the Fourth District just took care of that . . . with one of the greatest political comebacks of our time!
